i work with themes of migrant identity, cultural dysphoria, personal experience, and predominantly, the eastern european masculine; exploring the aftermaths of a ’90s / ’00s childhood in (mainly) urban romania and the surrounding area

while my works can be considered eclectic in both style and techniques used, i primarily work with film, performance, and drawing

right now i am focusing on sounds, visuals, and imagery of eastern european traditions and the local music genre of turbo-folk, with a focus on the romanian version; otherwise known as manele

this is part of my long-term visual research of cultural dysphoria, a phenomena in which one individual has a disconnect between their own perception of their culture and the actual way in which said culture is being perceived by the other

along with that, i am part of apartament 6, an artist collective whose focus is on creating critical and reflective art regarding the current living conditions of young emerging artists from romania
inspired by the imagery and tradition of living room exhibitions done by subversive artists of the communist times, we aim to better understand the artistic, political and social potential of the personal living space – the apartment (ro: apartament)
